Ford RideLondon Festival 2024 – 26 May 2024

London was overtaken by cyclists for the Ford RideLondon festival in the 10th edition of the world’s largest festival of cycling.

The day started with 21,500 people entering the Ford RideLondon-Essex challenge rides. Riders could choose from the three distances of 30, 60 and 100 miles which provided an achievable challenge for every age and ability,

as well as the opportunity to cycle past iconic landmarks such as the Tower of London and through leafy lanes and picturesque villages in Essex, before a thrilling finish Line by Tower Bridge.

Thousands of people took part in Ford RideLondon FreeCycle, held on a seven-mile traffic-free route in central London.

The free event, designed to encourage people of all ages and abilities to enjoy cycling in the capital, had Festival Zones at Aldwych and St Paul’s where people could stop and enjoy bike-themed activities.

Additionally, the Ford RideLondon HUB at Trafalgar Square featured stunt demonstrations and fun and games for all the family.

It was a day to remember for the riders of all ages and abilities who made the most of empty roads to glide past iconic locations including St Paul’s Cathedral, Somerset House, Buckingham Palace and The Mall.

It was not just fun cycling, the day also included the 2024 Ford RideLondon Classique which is a UCI Women’s WorldTour race. Lorena Wiebes (Team SD Worx – Protime) underlined her complete dominance of the 2024 Ford RideLondon Classique by winning the third and final stage of the race in London to complete a hat-trick of wins at this year’s event and seal the overall General Classification.

Wiebes sprinted to victory on The Mall, in front of Buckingham Palace, finishing ahead of Charlotte Kool (Team DSM-Firmenich PostNL) and her team-mate and world champion Lotte Kopecky (Team SD Worx – Protime). The finishing positions on Stage Three mirrored the final overall General Classification, with Kool runner-up 25 seconds back on Wiebes and Kopecky third at 26 seconds.

RideLondon, one of the world’s greatest festivals of cycling, was developed by the Mayor of London. It was first held in August 2013 and is a legacy event from the London 2012 Olympics.
