All you need to know about the Rugby Union World Cup in London -18th September to 31st October 2015

The Rugby World Cup 2015 gets underway at Twickenham Stadium on 18 September 2015 and rugby fans everywhere will be starting the final countdown to this year’s tournament.

England 2015 looks set to become the best supported Rugby World Cup ever, and  tickets are already on sale for this year’s showpiece.

There will be twenty teams taking part divided onto four pools:

Pool A Australia, England, Wales, Fiji Uruguay

Pool B  South Africa, Samoa, Scotland, Japan, United States

Pool C New Zealand, Argentina,Tonga, Georgia, Namibia

Pool D France, Ireland, Italy, Canada ,Romania

Matches will be played at venues all over England including Villa Park, Brighton Community Stadium, Manchester City Stadium, Sandy Park, Kingsholm Stadium, Elland Road, Leicester City Stadium, Stadium mk, St James’ Park. There will also be matches at the Millennium Stadium in Wales.

However most of the major matches will take place at Wembley Stadium, the Olympic Stadium and Twickenham in London.

Work is still being undertaken to transform the former Olympic Stadium in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park into the new home of West Ham United Football Club and National Competition centre for UK Athletics in 2016.  However , the stadium will reopen temporarily for five matches at Rugby World Cup in 2015.

Although Wembley Stadium is famous for its football matches  and concerts , it does occasionally host Rugby Union. For the 2025 World Cup it will host two matches.

Twickenham is  the biggest dedicated rugby ground in the world, and home of English rugby, and a Rugby World Cup host in 1991 and 1999.  The famous stadium will host the first match of the 2015 World Cup tournament ,  England  v Fiji on the 18th September and the last match, the Final on the 31st October. It will also host seven other matches.
