OnBlackheath Festival on Blackheath Common – 12th and 13th September 2015
After the success of last year’s festival, OnBlackheath, the music and food festival returns on 12th and 13th September 2015. The wide open green space of Blackheath Common in south-east London will be home to the family-friendly festival.
The music line up is full of crowd pleasers with Saturday headliners Elbow supported by special guests, including Manic Street Preachers, Anna Calvi and Jack Savoretti. On Sunday, headliners Madness will be supported by special guests including Kelis and Laura Mvula. The supporting stages will showcase world and alternative music curated by Gilles Peterson and Heavenly Records.
Also confirmed for the Sunday of the festival is a special performance from the cast of Sunny Afternoon, the hit West End musical that tells the story of legendary British rock band The Kinks. The cast of the award winning musical will be performing hits including “Waterloo Sunset”, “You Really Got Me”, “Dedicated Follower of Fashion” and “Lola”.
The popular Food Village will offer a wide range of attractions for food lovers including a food demonstration stage, celebrity cooks, pop up stalls and street food, all under the curation of the broadcaster and chef John Quilter. The Chef’s Club Banquet is the Food Village’s own mini restaurant where diners are treated to a 2 course feast – complete with wine or cocktail – cooked and served by some of London’s best celebrity chefs. There are seven sessions each day of the festival, each hosted by a different chef. Chefs include Honestly Healthy’s Natasha Corrett, DJ BBQ, Gennaro Contaldo, Michelin starred Pascal Aussignac, Martin Morales from Ceviche, Hemsley & Hemsley, Duck and Waffle’s Daniel Doherty,French Guy Cooking, British Vogue’s Calgary Avansino, Tom & Henry Herbert and Kelis.
The family-friendly festival will have plenty of activities for chidren in the dedicated kids area ‘The Playground’ which will include Workshops, reading sessions, screen printing, bubble making, kids magic, swing dance, hula hooping and plenty of surprises planned for the weekend.
Of interest to kids and adults will be magicians, illusionists and entertainers in the ‘The House Of Mystery’ and some of the UK’s finest roaming performing artists, interactive street theatre and site art installations.
The OnBlackheath festival tickets are available for the whole weekend, or for just the Saturday and Sunday, and 12’s and unders get in free.
