RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show – 5th to 10th July 2016

This year will be 26th year of the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show. The show was first held in 1990 and created by Historic Royal Palaces and Network Southeast. In 1992 Network Southeast announced that it was withdrawing its subsidy, and the RHS was the successful bidder to take the show over. The first RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show was held in 1993.

Although it lacks the history of the Chelsea Flower Show, the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show has a Royal setting and in a relatively short time has established itself as one of the world’s largest flower shows.

The show begins with a preview evening on the 4th July where you can enjoy the gardens and food options, there will be a range of live musical entertainment throughout the evening, ending in a dazzling firework finale.

Some highlights of the show include:

You can wander through thousands of free-flying butterflies from Indonesia and South America in the specially created Butterfly Dome.

Saturday is Family Saturday, packed with activities like sowing seeds, a fun family trail to follow, story telling, and even children’s cookery classes.

There will be spectacular Show Gardens with two new categories, The Capability Brown Gardens will celebrate the 300th anniversary of the birth of the 18th-century landscape architect Lancelot Brown, and at the opposite end of the spectrum the City Garden and the Flower Box categories will show just how much can be achieved in a small outdoor space.

The marvellous Floral Marquee will showcase floral exhibitors and specialist nurseries with stunning displays to inspire you. The Festival of Roses offers glorious displays, and around the showground there are inspiring talks and demonstrations by celebrity gardeners as well as fabulous shopping opportunities.
