Sandown Park Racecourse Ladies’ Day and Summer Festival – 6th and 7th July 2018

Royal Ascot may be over for another year, however style and glamour with top class racing carries on with the Summer Festival at Sandown Park Racecourse on the 6th and 7th July 2018.

Sandown Park Racecourse invites women of all ages to dress their best for Ladies’ Day, the first day of the Summer Festival at the racecourse to win some fantastic prizes which include return flights to New York, a year’s supply of Chi Chi London dresses and £150 voucher for FeelUnique.com.

Internationally-renowned DJ Charlie Hedges will be taking to the decks for the official After Party once racing has finished to allow racegoers  to enjoy the outside bars and dance the evening away.

The second day of the Summer Festival (Saturday 7th July) sees the Group 1 Coral-Eclipse race, that attracts some of the best flat racehorses over a mile and two furlongs. It is the first opportunity for younger ‘Classic’ hopeful horses to battle it out against the older horses at the highest level.

After racing, Reggie Yates will take to the decks for the official After Party in the Parade Ring.

Sandown Park racecourse, Esher, is only 30 minutes on the train from central London and is one London’s most popular racecourses.

French Guineas winner The Gurkha is one of 11 horses entered for the race, Irish Champion Trainer Aidan O’Brien has the Dante runner-up Deauville entered. Cougar Mountain, Bravery and Long Island Sound are the other entries from Ballydoyle. Other likely runners include Time Test who has only run once so far this season, winning the Group 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown Park. Leading owner Prince Khalid Abdullah, will also be represented by Exosphere. The Sir Michael Stoute-trained four-year-old won the Jockey Club Stakes (Group 2) at Newmarket in April. Another Royal Ascot winner, Hawkbill, has been supplemented for the race. Clive Cox’s, My Dream Boat, heads into the race fresh from a victory in the Group 1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes.

Directions

By Car: The course is 15 miles south-west of London just off the A307 and is signposted.

By Rail: Esher railway station is adjacent to the back straight of the racecourse. Racegoers can walk along the platform before taking a short cut at the end of the platform which brings them to the turnstiles half way down the back straight.

Sports Taster Day and Family Fun Day at Sandown Park Racecourse – 21st and 22nd August 2015

In recent years, racecourses have developed specific days geared towards family entertainment, Sandown Park will following this tradition by opening its doors on Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd August for its highly popular Sports Taster Day and Family Fun Day.

The fun begins with the Sports Taster Day which provides a range of entertainment and activities for the whole family, some of the highlights of the day include :

Football coaching from Premier League champions Chelsea FC’s foundation;
Top golf coaching from the UK’s number 1 children’s golf coach;
Korean martial art demonstrations and tutorials;
Cheerleading: The Royals cheerleading team will be on hand to show off their skills and hand out their top tips;
Volleyball from Surrey Volleyball Association who will be there to get you in the competitive spirit through interactive demonstrations;
Plus there will be a mechanical horse courtesy of BHEST (British Horseracing Education and Standards Trust) to enable kids to try their hand at being a jockey and a surf simulator for those wanting to put their balance to the test!

There will be also be a full racecard which includes the HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Apprentice World Championship race – the first time Sandown Park has hosted an Arabian race since 2007.

Saturday’s Family Fun Day will see the appearance of children’s favourites Peppa Pig, George and friends. Other entertainment will include a variety of free kids’ entertainment including pony rides, face painting and children’s fairground rides.
There is also top quality racing including two Group 3 races, the Solario Stakes and The Atlanta Stakes.

Sandown Park is one of London’s most popular and picturesque racecourses and is only 30 mins by train from Central London. There are plenty of food and drink options around the racecourse.

Tickets are usually cheaper when booked in advance, starting from £16.20 but remember that for both days, children under 18 will admitted free as long as they are accompanied by paying adult.

A Short Guide to Sandown Park Racecourse

Sandown Park Racecourse: Esher, Surrey, KT10 9AJ

Sandown Park is a horse racing course  in Esher, Surrey, It hosts one Group 1 flat race, the Eclipse Stakes. Due to its proximity to Central London and the interesting character of the course it is one of the most popular racecourses for Londoners and visitors. It puts on high quality flat and jumps racing throughout the year.

Sandown Park was one of the first courses to charge all for attending. It opened in 1875 and everyone had to pay at least half a crown. The first meeting was over three days and included the Grand National Hunt Chase, now staged at the Cheltenham Festival. It also included The Grand International Steeple Chase worth £2,130 to the winner and was at the time the largest prize for a steeplechase.

The course attracts the top jockeys and trainers for a number of high-profile races including the Eclipse Stakes and the Tingle Creek Steeplechase.

Course Description

The Flat Course: Oval and run right-handed. . A separate straight course runs across the middle of the oval and is 5 furlongs in distance. All the home straights are steeply uphill.

Jumps Course:  A right-handed oval is 1 mile 5 furlongs in distance. There are 11  tough fences including the Railway Fences that test horse and jockey.

Tingle Creek Christmas Festival at Sandown Park – 5th and 6th December 2014

One of the most popular dates in the racing calendar, the Tingle Creek Christmas Festival offers two days of top-class racing at Sandown Park each December.

The first day of the 2-day meeting, on Friday 5th December, features a competitive card of racing and plenty of hospitality.

However the course gets really into the festive mood  on Saturday 6th December. The Tingle Creek Christmas Festival plays host to an exciting blend of activities for the whole family, alongside a race card full of equine stars there will be a huge array of children’s entertainment, as well as a delicious selection of homemade mince pies and mulled wine.

If you would like to  arrive in style? Horse drawn carriages will be running between Esher train station and the racecourse offering racegoers a  opportunity to enjoy a very traditional ride.

A Santa Claus during Tingle Creek Day at Sandown Park

There is plenty of Children’s entertainment,  younger racegoers can visit Santa who will be handing out Christmas gifts from his festive grotto, whilst Robin Crusoe is the pantomime guaranteed to get the whole family laughing. There will also be festive carol singing after racing with the New London Singers to really get you into the Christmas spirit.

If you fancy a bit of shopping, there will be large selection of Christmas stalls, which are certain to have something for everyone.

Sandown Park is one of the most popular courses and the Tingle Creek offers one of the best Jumping racing days  which attracts many of the  best jump horses and jockeys.

The Brand New Heavies at Sandown Park – Saturday 14th June.

The Acid Jazz legends The Brand New Heavies will be playing  Sandown Park  Racecourse on Saturday 14th June.

London’s own, The Brand New Heavies will be playing their unique brand  of Acid Jazz that have created Global Hits such as ‘Never Stop,’ ‘Stay This Way’ and ‘Dream Come True.’

With their ‘Heavy Rhyme Experience: Vol 1,’   they joined forces with popular rap-artists such as ‘Main Source’ and ‘Gang Starr.’ Two years later, their popularity soared even further with the release of album ‘Brother Sister’ which rose to Number 4 in the UK Chart.
