Greenwich+Docklands International Festival is London’s leading festival of free outdoor performing arts (theatre, dance, and street arts), an annual 9/10-day celebration of outdoor events
GDIF has been growing every year and in 2014, the Festival featured over a hundred performances by dozens of national and international companies with more than 110,000 people attending the outdoor shows in East and South London.
The Festival is committed to breaking new ground in outdoor performance and raising the ambition, quality and diversity of outdoor work produced in this country, with a particular focus on the commissioning and development of outdoor work led by Deaf and disabled artists and artists from diverse backgrounds.
Some of the highlights of the festival include :
27 – 28 June 2015
A weekend of European style outdoor street theatre and dance features artists from the UK, Belgium, France, Denmark and Spain. Companies include Southpaw Dance Company, Avanti Display, Artizani, Stefano di Renzo, Gandini Juggling, Cathy Waller Company, StopGap Dance Company, 15feet6 and Collectif Malunés.
29 June – 4 July 2015
The annual outdoor dance extravaganza is back with performances from UK and international dance companies. Journey across the parks, piazzas, open spaces and waterfronts of Canary Wharf and encounter everything from the mesmerising footwork of New Zealand Maori Haka, to fluid and fearless Parkour as well as nostalgic 1950’s tap and powerful, contemporary dance from leading UK and international companies.
Companies include Stefano di Renzo, Etta Ermini Dance Theatre, Sole Rebel Tap, Brodas Bros, Parkour Dance Company, HURyCAN, Corey Baker DAnce, Company Chameleon, Compagnie Le Grand Jeté, Gandini Juggling, Compañía Sharon Fridman and Rosie Kay Dance Company
The Four Fridas
1 – 4 July 2015
The Four Fridas will be a spectacular, outdoor theatre production celebrating the life and work of the legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
