One of the UK’s biggest baking events returns to ExCeL on the 5th-7th October and the bright sunshine bought out the large crowds who made their way to the show in anticipation of enjoying all things baking, decorating and sugar craft related. The popularity of Bake Off and other related television programmes has seen a major growth of interest in these types of shows which provide a dazzlingly array of cakes and other foodie delights.

Always popular are the expert demonstrations and talks that take place in a number of locations throughout the show. Some of the biggest names will appear at the show including Eric Lanlard, Rosemary Shrager, John Whaite, Candice Brown, Paul Jagger, Jane Asher, Andrew Thwaite, Molly Robbins, Jayne Cross, Louise Dawson and Rosie Cake Diva.

The Baking Theatre is where a full programme of stars from the baking world will take to the stage daily in a series of  demos.

The Decorating Stage will help you learn the decorating tricks of the trade, brush up on your sugarcrafting skills and perfect your piping in these masterclasses. In the Sugarcraft Zone, there will be top sugarcraft exhibitors, and throughout the day there is demonstrations from Sugarcraft experts teaching about piping knowledge and new advanced fondant techniques.

Le Cordon Bleu have an array of activities at this year’s Cake & Bake Show. The institute pastry chefs will teach you key techniques,  Le Cordon Bleu Master Chefs host a series of free demonstrations at their stand and on the Baking Theatre showing step by step techniques that are taught in their Pâtisserie and Boulangerie Diplomas. Le Cordon Bleu Chefs and top professionals in the industry also offer a Slice of Advice feature to answer your questions.

The show allows you see some of the stunning cakes produced by professionals and amateurs. Some of the country’s best cake designers and experts showcase their craft, Rosie Dummer provides the main feature by creating a large cake of London’s Big Ben which is at the show’s entrance and there other masterpieces on the Birthday and Wedding Cakes display tables.

The Cake & Bake Show Official Competition allows amateurs to show their skills, this years theme is ‘Around the World in 80 Cakes’. There is a wide range of  cakes of  historical landmarks and celebrating many cities, countries and cultures.

If you are feeling a little peckish, walk around the large number of Market Stands to sample a tasty and mouth-watering array of freshly baked produce from the country’s leading artisan bakers and cake makers. The stalls also offer those hard to get accessories and give some insights into some of the latest baking trends from cake experts and master bakers alike.

The Cake & Bake Show offers a family day out where children have their own Kid’s Zone with lots of fun activities for little bakers including icing and decorating sweet treats.

If you would like to pamper yourself, enjoy a drink at the Champagne Bar and have your nails done at the Cake & Bake Nail Bar.

The Cake & Bake Show provides plenty of interest with lots of demonstrations and events for those who want to gain or refine their baking skills. It would also appeal to those who want to sample some of stunning products on offer. If you need to find that certain piece of equipment, a vast range of products and accessories are available to buy from the extensive shopping area. The popularity of the show provides plenty of evidence that the ‘baking boom’ is still going strong and appeals to a wide range of people.
