Germán Cornejo’s Tango Fire at the Peacock Theatre – 29 January to 16 February 2019

The award-winning Tango Fire returns for its seventh season at The Peacock showcasing the history of authentic Argentine tango, from its origins to contemporary interpretations. Tango Fire stars the internationally renowned Germán Cornejo and Gisela Galeassi and cast that includes former World Tango champions.

Originating from the streets and tango houses of Buenos Aires, Tango Fire has achieved extraordinary success, touring internationally over the past 14 years to critical acclaim. Cornejo’s choreography and Galeassi’s passion, elegance and grace takes the audience through an evening that explores the history, various styles and moods of Argentine tango.

The dance couples in Tango Fire are: Germán Cornejo & Gisela Galeassi, Sebastian Alvarez & Victoria Saudelli, Marcos Esteban Roberts & Louise Junqueira Malucelli, Ezequiel Lopez & Camila Alegre, Julio Jose Seffino & Carla Dominguez, and Esteban Simon & Marilu Leopardi. Each couple show their unique flair through their interpretation of tango, Gisela Galeassi, has created a special new solo for this production.

The evening is also a musical delight with the company’s resident music group Tango Fuego Quartet playing the music of the great tango masters live – including Piazzolla, Pugliese and Gardel. Skilled musicians on piano, bandoneon, contrabass and violin add to the Tango Fire experience.
