If the property market is somewhat becalmed, the same cannot be said of home improvement where the interest begins to grow. One of the main advocates of home improvement is TV presenter Kevin McCloud who will be presenting Grand Designs Live at London’s ExCeL from the 5th to 13th May 2018.
The show offers visitors top expert advice, new product launches and specialist exhibitors in six project zones. All aspects of home creation and improvement are covered including self-builds, renovation or finding ideas and inspiration to create your dream home.
The event will be presented by design guru Kevin McCloud who will lead a series of educational seminars and visitors can go behind the scenes of Grand Designs and The World’s Most Extraordinary Homes when Kevin McCloud and Piers Taylor let you into a few secrets with ‘Behind the Scenes with Kevin and Piers’.
Underlying the show is the importance of design in your projects and there will by over 500 brands, across five different sections covering Build, Kitchens, Bathrooms, Gardens and Interiors, plus a Technology Trail to provide inspiration. For advice, there will be RIBA architects, building suppliers, kitchen and bathroom designers on hand, you can ‘meet’ some of the Grand Designers in The Grand Theatre. Different parts of the home get more specialist treatment with Interior Room Sets, The Smart Kitchen and The Lavatory Project.
Regular viewers of the TV series will know that Kevin McCloud is a great advocate of being eco-friendly and recycling. The show introduces Kevin’s Green Heroes Live which features eco-innovations come to life and Architectural Salvage which reflects Grand Designs passion for recycling quality materials in varying, innovative, resourceful and unique ways.
The show takes the recycling message even further with a ban of single use plastic items at the event replacing them with recyclable alternatives. The show has prohibited the sale of plastic bottles from all in-show catering points along with the distribution of plastic straws. Plastic cutlery and show goody bags have been replaced with biodegradable alternatives. Visitors to the show will be encouraged to use refillable bottles and water points at the show’s cafes.
A visit to May’s Grand Designs Live offers the opportunity to be inspired to tackle some of those home improvements and enjoy a wide variety of events and attractions.
The show runs from the 5th to 13th May 2018 at London ExCeL.
