Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch : Masurca Fogo at Sadler’s Wells – 9th to 12th February 2017

Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch perform Masurca Fogo which explores the human need for love.  Pina Bausch employs her usual wit and passion to the piece which includes dancers flinging themselves down water slides, breathing into microphones, feeding watermelon to a live chicken, and cramming into a crowded beach hut for a party.

Set to a soundtrack that features an eclectic mix of k.d. lang, the Balanescu Quartet’s reinvention of German electronic band Kraftwerk, and traditional African and Portuguese music.

Masurca Fogo provides an entertaining view of the absurdity and social rituals of love with  the remarkable dance and acting skills of the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch.
