The incredible life-sized knitted and crocheted ‘Yarnia’ display comes to the UK for the first time. Created in Canada and the USA, it depicts three scenes from C.S. Lewis’s children’s classic – The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Featuring the evacuation from London, the magical snow covered ‘Narnia’, and the triumphant final battle for good over evil… a unique and very special display.
Royal School of Needlework
The RSN will be displaying students’ work from their Certificate and Diploma courses taught at their base in Hampton Court Palace, as well as work by their BA (Hons) Hand Embroidery for Fashion, Interiors, Textile Art students.

NNA – Birds by Carole Checketts
The National Needlework Archive presents an amazing ‘One-woman-show’ of beautiful felt birds, all delightfully embroidered in both realistic and fantasy designs; made in the 1960’s and 70’s, based on Winsome Douglas’s book ‘Toys for your own delight’, first published in 1957.
A project based on leaf shapes and motifs in different shades of green – hand-embroidery by Afghan village women. This grew into a challenge for European textile artists to use the leaves as a basis for new works.
Glimpses of Brazil
The theme for this year’s Madeira embroidery competition is ‘Glimpses of Brazil’, supported by STITCH magazine with the Embroiderer’s Guild.
