The LOCO London Comedy Film Festival – 20th April to 1st May 2016

The LOCO London Comedy Film Festival, the UK’s only international comedy film festival, returns to BFI Southbank and selected cinemas in April 2016. The Festival explores all elements of comedy film-making with a series of events. Some of the highlights of the festival include:

An Introduction to Silent Comedy

The screenings for families returns with a selection of silent comedy classics with a live introduction, entertainment and music with live music from The Lucky Dog Picturehouse.

Antoine Doinel.

The festival explores the series of films made 1959 and 1979 by director François Truffaut and actor Jean-Pierre Léaud that followed the life of Antoine Doinel from his stormy teens through marriage, children, divorce, and adulthood. As part of the Liberté, Égalité, Hilarité celebration of French comedy, here’s a rare chance to see the complete adventures of Antoine Doinel.

Big Shorts

LOCO has teamed up with the London Short Film Festival for a celebration of small movies: some favourite British short comedy films from the 21st century. Discover some of Britain’s hottest new talent and witness surprising appearances by some of our best-known comedy stars. Look out for Judi Dench’s dating woes, Tim Key’s yuletide, and Johnny Vegas’ scorned lover.

LOCO campaigns for better recognition of the craft of comedy film-making by illuminating the techniques behind the movies, by celebrating great work, and by helping to train the next generation of comedy film-makers.
