The popular London Classic Car Show returns with a large array of classic cars to entertain the crowds .Unusually for a show of this type, you can see the cars in action on a indoor driving runway which provides close up action of some of the most iconic cars around.
The show attracts a wide range of people including classic car owners, collectors, experts, enthusiasts plus dealers, manufacturers, car clubs and products.
The indoor runway called the Grand Avenue has been extended this year and will have the general theme of Six Nations. A Lamborghini Miura used in the opening scene to 1969’s The Italian Job film will join Ferraris and Fiats, Lancias and Maseratis in the Italian team as they take on teams from Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan and America. Great Britain will be represented by cars from Aston Martin, Lotus, Jensen and Jaguar, France will be showing the Renault 5 Turbo and Peugeot 205 T16 . Germany’s line-up includes the original Audi quattro, Porsche 356 Speedster and a number of BMWs. Japan will offer the Datsun 240Z , the rare Toyota 2000GT and the 2000GT’s baby brother, the Sports 800. The USA team with show cars like an original Ford Thunderbird and the vast Cadillac Coupe Series 62.
A special display devoted to the F1 and curated by designer Gordon Murray will form one of the major attractions at the show. No fewer than McLaren five F1s will be shown – two standard road cars, two GTR racers and a ‘long tail’ F1 GT road car. The showcase will also feature a number of F1-related artefacts including the race suit worn by JJ Lehto when he won the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours in an F1.
Other highlights include a tribute to Rallying, Speakers Corner which is an open forum where guest speakers and VIPs will talk about classic cars as investments, about the pleasure derived from classic car ownership and offer advice about buying and selling at auction and Car Club Square, a specially curated display of car clubs showcasing popular and affordable classics.
