The London Boat Show returns to ExCeL London from 8 – 17 January 2016 and provides a showcase of all things marine.The popular annual Show, is the first place to see the latest marine innovations, design and technology. The 2016 Show will host the latest launches, products and marine brands, as well as offer a wide range of activities that will entertain the whole family .
One of the highlights of the show will be a purpose-built Mediterranean Bay. The attraction will be a focal point for formal instructional tuition with top sailing schools and play host to a festival of watersports where visitors can get on the water and try the sport of water walking, plus you can test out the latest sit on top kayaks from Johnson Outdoor and get to grips with paddling.
The show will be celebrating the marine achievements of The 60’s and allowing visitors to test their sailing skills without getting wet using The RS Sailing Simulator which is a real RS Tera fixed to a stand simulating the life-like motion of a boat. In the Show Theatre, some of the world’s boating experts talking on topics ranging from technology and innovations. A parade of experts will appear, talking on subjects as varied as engine maintenance to around the world expeditions. You can also meet the crew of the Rannoch Women’s Challenge; 5 women attempting to break the world record for the fastest crossing of the Atlantic from West to East, departing from New York in June 2016.
To get a closer look at the boats , walk down the boardwalks dedicated to both motor and sail boats. Brands confirmed include Viking Boats, Elan, Haines Marine, Jeanneau, Dehler Yachts, Moody Yachts, J Boats, Grand Soleil, Tofinou Yachts, Nautitech, Bavaria .
All the excitement is not just inside, outside in the dockside, the ground breaking new 131 Yacht will be berthed, plus, you’ll see some fabulous historic boats. Climb on board, look around and learn about their interesting histories and restorations from the crew. The Massey Shaw is an old fire boat – look out for its water cannon displays! MT Kent and MT Touchstone are motor tugs that have been lovingly restored. Then there’s SB Melissa, a Thames sailing barge, plus the Spirit of Falmouth, a wooden gaff rigged tall ship.
There will plenty or food and drink options and Thursday Night is the first Boating Party of the New Year. Live music, fashion shows, celeb chefs, a Guinness Bar and parties just about everywhere are a great warm welcome to the New Year and a look forward to the boating season, the Show is open an extra 2 hours to enjoy the festivities.
From Friday 8 to Sunday 10 January 2016, the North Hall, opposite the London Boat Show, will play host to The Telegraph Cruise and Telegraph Travel Shows. Access to all these shows, is granted with just one ticket, offering excellent value for money with entrance to three Shows for the cost of just one.
