Verdi’s powerful opera, The Force of Destiny get its first new staging at the ENO for over 20 years. This production is directed by Calixto Bieito and is set in the 1930s, during the Spanish Civil War.
ENO Music Director Mark Wigglesworth conducts, with a world-class cast including star tenor Gwyn Hughes Jones, baritone Anthony Michaels-Moore and the exciting soprano Tamara Wilson as Leonora.
The story centres on love and revenge, a dying man curses his daughter which leads to the daughter and her lover to flee. Her brother is on their trail, armed with a dagger and an implacable thirst for revenge. Leonora and Alvaro can run; but can they escape their fate?

Language: Sung in English, with surtitles projected above the stage.
