Spectacular outside Ice skating rinks in London – October 2015 to February 2016

In the dark winter days, Ice skating is one of London’s favourite winter pastimes and some of the capital’s most iconic sites set up temporary ice rinks. The Natural History Museum, The Tower of London, Hampton Court and Somerset House provide spectacular historical backdrops whilst the City of London and Canary Wharf allow you to glide about underneath the skyscrapers. The rinks cater for skaters of all levels and ages and usually have other events and food and drink options. Here is a selection of the more spectacular rinks but other ones do pop up all over the city.

Natural History Museum Ice Rink

Skate at Somerset House Ice Rink
From 18 November 2015 to 10 January 2016

Highlights in 2015 include:

Club Nights: Revellers can skate ‘til late to DJs from the best international festivals, clubs and record labels.  Taking over the rink-side decks will be the likes of Bestival’s Rob da Bank with ‘Purple Rave’ – an evening dedicated to Prince, clubland legends Ministry of Sound, Reggae masters Island Records, and The South London Soul Train.

Jazz Skate: On the evening of 22 November, skaters will be able to glide around to the musical stylings of live Jazz musicians and DJs, thanks to a new collaboration with EFG London Jazz Festival.

Fortnum’s Lodge: An après-Skate restaurant and bar serving warming winter drinks and a delicious seasonal menu with a new Botanical Bar offering a special cocktail menu.

The Christmas Arcade with Fortnum & Mason: The seasonal arcade showcases the best of Fortnum’s gourmet fare and fashion accessories plus a range of Christmas decorations designed exclusively for Somerset House.

Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink

From 20 November 2015 to 4 January 2016

Enjoy some festive fun on the ice in glorious Tudor surroundings.The outdoor ice rink at Hampton Court Palace offers spectacular views of the red brick Tudor front of King Henry VIII’s magnificent palace, on the banks of the historic river Thames.Book an evening session to see the stunning palace lit up after dark while you skate under the evening stars! Hampton Court Palace is 500 years old this year! celebrate 500 years of drama at the palace.

The Ice Bar & Café provides a welcome place to warm up after your skate, serving a selection of winter drinks and festive snacks.

Tower of London Ice Rink

The Tower of London offers some festive fun and spectacular views when you glide on the ice in the shadow of one of the great historical buildings of London.

The Ice Bar & Café provides a welcome place to warm up after your skate, serving a selection of winter drinks and festive snacks.

Broadgate Ice Rink

Broadgate Ice Rink returns on 16 November 2015 for another fantastic season of Skating in the heart of the City of London.
Just a two-minute walk from Liverpool Street Station and Broadgate Circle, London’s longest running outdoor rink is surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants.
