The Rugby World Cup has provided plenty of drama but after the quarter finals it is left to the Southern hemisphere teams to fight out the semi – finals.
New Zealand’s demolition of the French served notice that the world champions were not going to give up their crown easily. South Africa’s route to the semi final has been much more hazardous with their embarrassing defeat to Japan and the narrow victory over the injury hit Wales team.
The All Blacks record over the last four years has been won 48 matches, drawn two and lost three. Their record against the Springboks is also impressive but in a one off game anything can happen. South Africa strength will be key if they are going to stop the free running All Blacks, Schalk Burger and Duane Vermeulen have been key figures in the Springboks in the march to the semi finals.
New Zealand will start favourites to reach another final but if South Africa can dominate it is likely to be a very close game.
