Kempton Park Racecourse is near to Sunbury-on-Thames in Surrey, around 16 miles south-west of Central London. It is one of the few courses that features a National Hunt and an all-weather flat racetrack. Kempton Park stages one of the top National Hunt races with the King George VI Chase which is held every Boxing Day. The top steeplechasers contest this race and the list of winners include some of the most famous racehorses.
It is sign that winter is almost here when National Hunt jump season begins, to celebrate the start of the season at Kempton Park, they are putting on Jump Sunday on the 18th October 2015. Jump Sunday provides an action packed afternoon of high quality racing along with entertainment off the track which will include free face painting, pony rides, a mobile petting farm and much more
Multiple Grade 1 winner The New One is expected to start his season in The Williamhill.com Hurdle Race. The Nigel Twiston Davies’ trained seven-year-old is bidding for his third straight victory in the race.
Part of the fun off the course is the always popular Meirion Owen and his Quack Pack, the Quack Pack run by Meirion will showcase the amazing talents of Border Collies and the communication between handler and his dog as they round-up his pack of Indian Runner Ducks. His demonstrations which will take place at intervals throughout the afternoon are highly entertaining and allows for audience participation.
Kempton Park is one of the major London tracks and provides quality horse racing all year round – Jump racing from October to May, and afternoon and evening Flat racing on the all-weather track throughout the year.
Gates to Kempton Park on Jump Sunday open at 12.15pm with the first race taking place at 2.15pm. Tickets cost £12 for adults (18 and over), if booked in advance or £16 on the day.
