Newbury Racecourse :Newbury, Berkshire, RG14 7NZ

Newbury Racecourse is a racecourse  in Berkshire,  it puts on race days all through the year  with  racing on the flat and over the jumps.

The first recorded racing at Newbury took place in 1805 with the ‘Newbury Races’, however  Newbury Racecourse came into existence when  trainer, John Porter proposed a new racecourse at Newbury.  In April 1904 the Newbury Racecourse Company was formed and purchased the land and construction began of the buildings and stables.The racecourse held its first race meeting in 1905 , National Hunt racing followed shortly after the beginning of Flat racing on the course.

Course
The left handed oval track is about 1 mile 7 furlongs. There are some slight undulations on the long finishing straight. The National Hunt track is on the inside of the Flat track and has 11 fences, two of these are open ditches and there is one water jump directly opposite the stands.

Facilities

The Members Enclosure: As well as access to all public areas, Day Member Badge Holders have exclusive use of the Berkshire Stand and facilities. The Members Restaurant on the 1st floor of the stand overlooks the Paddock and Winner’s Enclosure.

The Grandstand Enclosure: Within this enclosure you have access to the main Grandstand, Parade Ring and Winner’s Enclosure. There are a variety of bars and catering outlets selling fast food and snacks. The Racegoers Restaurant overlooking the track is also situated in this enclosure.

Directions
By Car: The course is close to both the M3 and the M4 as well as the A34, A4 and A339.

By Rail: There is a main line rail station adjacent to the course with direct connections to London Paddington and the West Country.
