If the grey winter days are dampening your spirits, get a splash of colour and look forward to the spring with a visit to the RHS London Plant and Potato Fair. The first of this year’s RHS London Shows will offer a wide range of early spring plants, advice and inspiration.  Fresh winter colour and early-flowering plants will be exhibited by some of the UK’s best nurserymen and growers, with an abundance of bulbs and plants to buy including choice snowdrops.

The show will also celebrate the nation’s favourite vegetable, the versatile potato. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the many different varieties and browse and purchase a number of seed potatoes and onion sets. RHS award winning nursery, Pennard Plants will also create a stunning vintage-style potato display in the RHS Lindley Hall.

Visitors will have the chance to get involved and sample potato based produce including sweet tasting potato cakes, pastries and mud pies.  A number of potato based crafts and activities will also feature including ‘seed bomb’ making with the Secret Adventurers’ Club, mash potato sculpting with Gil Whyman and potato printing with Southbank Printmakers. There is even a ‘Spud Olympics’.

A visit to the Invisible Garden Science Exhibit will enable those interested to find out more about compost, soil science and use microscopes to look at all the creatures that live beneath the ground.

RHS experts will be present to answer any gardening queries and there will be a full programme of talks covering a variety of topics including potatoes and soil and garden design and horticulture. Cookery demonstrations will also feature at the show across the two days.
